Aristotle the Red Boy

I just love those long fancy names on pedigree certificates. Here are some from Ari's: Spring Valley's Great Gatsby, Rachmaninoff, Time Loves a Hero, O My Darlin .....
The name debate went on for a while. We went to look at the puppies twice before bringing Ari home. There were 4 girls and 3 boys in the litter, all o so cute, but we liked the boy with the red collar (the "Red Boy") the most. When we came to pic...

A super duper clean ridgeback

Last Sunday, after a very productive morning of running through mud in the park, Ari required a bath. I employ the same strategy for a 77 pound puppy as I do for my 8 pound Himalayan cat – give him a bath inside a shower.  He has to be coerced into walking into a spare bathroom, which is achieved by strategically placing treats on the floor and inside the shower. Learning new things.. and proud of it!

Dogs try to make their humans proud in many different ways. Learning new tricks, keeping the mailman away, chasing a rabbit from the backyard, or chasing visiting grandma from the family sofa.  But there is one accomplishment that male puppies and their humans are especially proud of.  This is the thing that makes us go “Yes!
